To change the Futile Care Law, we need citizens to do two important things:
- Write their legislators in the Texas House and Senate and ask them to support amendments to the Futile Care Law requiring hospitals to continue to treat patients until they are transferred to another facility.
- Inform others about the law
Our goal is to create a virulent demand for legislators to change the "futile care law" to protect patients from involuntary euthanasia. To get started in that effort, we've include the networking tools below. We will be adding to these tools as we develop more.
Two by Two Networking
- Write a letter or email to your state representative and state senator, asking them to support amendments to the "futile care" law that will require hospitals to continue to treat patients until transferred to another facility.
- Recruit two volunteers (more if you feel guided) to commit to writing letters to their State Representatives and State Senators and to duplicate your actions with two of their own volunteers.
- Inform each volunteer about the law.
- Provide each of your volunteers with contact information for their State Representative and State Senator. (You can find this info on our website www.texaspatientrights.org)
These actions are simple, but powerful in building a demand for the legislature to amend the Futile Care Law to protect patients from involuntary euthanasia..
